The Garden Theory

What if talent isn't the whole story?

Why the conditions around us shape our growth more than we realize.

Three steps to understand yourself, your environment, and where you're most likely to thrive.

When a plant fails to thrive, we look to the soil, not the seed.
Step One

Know Yourself: Discover Your Plant

Before you can evaluate an environment, you need to understand yourself: what conditions energize you, which conditions drain you, and which of the nine Plant Archetypes best reflects how you naturally grow. The Garden Theory assessment helps you identify your Plant Archetype, providing a foundation for understanding the environments where you'll thrive.

Step Two

Understand Your Environment: Read Your Soil

Once you know your plant archetype, you can assess the environment around you with clarity. You'll learn to evaluate the six growth conditions — Communication, Culture, Visibility, Development, Autonomy, and Leadership — and identify what is nourishing you and what is depleting you.

01

Communication

How clearly — and how honestly — information moves around you.

02

Culture

The unwritten rules about how people are expected to work and treat each other.

03

Visibility

Has two lenses: recognition for the work you do, and insight into how decisions are made.

04

Development

Whether you're growing, or just maintaining.

05

Autonomy

How much trust and latitude you're given to do the work your way.

06

Leadership

Whether the people above you create the conditions you need — or drain them.
